Thanks to Wordpress timestamp feature I am able to write posts without publishing them immediately. Instead I can write posts, like this one, and set the timestamp so the posts are only published at the time I specify. This feature has made my life so much easier and it gives me the weekends off for a change.

The mornings in our house tends to get a little hectic Mondays thru Fridays with my wife and son running around like crazy people. This is why Saturday mornings have become so special to me and my wife as we have, or should I say ‘make’ time for each other.

Before my heart attack I used to work 7 days a week teaching people how to be proficient with their computers and software. This usually left me stress and tired most of the time. Not the great guy to live with.

I no longer work ridiculous hours and I have even dropped teaching in classrooms. I have also helped most of my website design clients find new web designers so I can dedicate more of my online time to my own blogs.

Taking weekends off was very strange at the beginning. I was itching to be in my office but that slowly changed after a few weeks and now I look forward to Saturday and Sunday.

I still get up at 5 am but that’s because I now feel life is too short to waste a day staying in my nice warm bed.

I still hit the office on the weekends. I take the two minute commute to my office, if you include a quick trip to the bathroom and the to the kitchen for coffee.

Once I have my coffee I can relax and dump any junk mail. This makes it easier when I start back to work Monday morning. I can enjoy my coffee and catch up on useful emails before most people are even out of bed.

By the time my wife of 25 years is up I am done in the office, all cleaned up and ready for what ever we have planned for that day.

Social Networking With Blogging Zoom

zoomlogo

What is Blogging Zoom

The Blogging Zoom website is a place where bloggers like you and me can share our content by voting for it. The more votes your content or post the closer to the front page. Getting a blog post on the front page can send you huge amount of traffic just like other social networking sites.

Who Can Use Blogging Zoom?

As long as you are blogger you can have your content zoomed. Not a blogger, then Blogging Zoom isn’t for you.

Blogging Zoom users range from hobby bloggers like me to bloggers that just want to share their opinions.

Blogging Zoom’s Mission

We are here to give every blogger, popular or not, a chance to showcase their content and talents. BZ was created by bloggers for bloggers, and we are dedicated to providing people with the tools and knowledge they need to increase their blogs’ popularity. We also provide a platform where bloggers can meet others who share similar interests and talents. You’ll find content on nearly every subject in BZ so no matter where your interests lie, you should find the service to be useful.

How does a story get published, or promoted to the front page?

When a blog post, story or article is zoomed, or voted for by enough users, it will be published and promoted to the front page of Blogging Zoom. The amount of zooms required to move a story or piece of content to the front page is determined by the total number of users that have voted positively and negatively for that content.

Just like other social networks your work can be deleted if you break the rules so be sure you them.

Okay maybe you haven’t heard of Twitter but while I was reading up on Ed Dale and his great 30 Day Challange I learned about twittering and now I Twitter pretty much daily and I also follow others that have interesting things to share.

There are quite a few videos on how to use Twitter but I have saved you the trouble of looking. Here is a video that will give you a fly-through. Tweet Tweet.

Blogging With Wordpress Instead of Blogger.com

wordpressAre you ready to give blogging a try? Not sure if you want to try it on your own domain? Maybe you just want to introduce a new friend to blogging.

Then I would suggest Wordpress.com for a free blog and free blog hosting. I personal started this way to get a feel for blogging and quickly loved it and started blogging on my own domains, using WordPress from within my domain cPanel.

If you are not quite ready to commit to having your own domain and blog you should give Wordpress.com a try. You can view a couple of very helpful videos I found on BlogBloke.com

View Chris Abraham’s Wordpress Introduction Part One, a powerful 45 minute video leading you through creating and setting up a Wordpress blog on Wordpress.com

If you are looking for a little more advanced help with Wordpress.com blogging then you want to view the second video Chris creating on Wordpress.com blogs.

Once you see the power and ease of use you may just want to move to your own domain and install a wordpress blog from within Fantastico in your cPanel. Enjoy and thanks BlogBloke and Chris.

Ambition, research and action will help your business make money online.Success in business takes determination. Each success wannabee must be motivated and willing to work hard in order to get an online business going strong. Ambition is one of the key factors in how quickly and how much your business will grow.

It takes some ambition to even consider starting a business. Those who make their business dreams a reality have already fought and won half of the battle. So when we have doubts as to whether we have what it takes to make it, we simply need to look inside ourselves.

I have a few friends, yes I have friends, that thought an online business and making money online would be easy and automatic, but once they found there was some real work and research involved they slowly gave up.

Every Business Has Hard Times

When a business is in the growing phase, there will always be times when things look bleak. You may even find you need to take a few steps backwards. Contrary to the belief of most internet marketing newbies few businesses are overnight successes. It takes hard work and lots of marketing to get things started and going strong.

Growing pains can really take their toll on new business owners. They can make us want to throw in the towel, and some do. But if we can get back the motivation that made us determined to start our businesses in the first place, we can tough it out and come out on top.

How Can I Rekindle My Ambition?

When we’re caught up in the negative things that are happening, it can be easy to forget why we’re doing what we’re doing. Stepping back and analyzing our reasons, goals and achievements can help us get in a better state of mind.

  • Think about why you went into business. We all have different reasons. Remembering them can give us the incentive we need to make it work.
  • Revisit your goals. If you’re not achieving them, figure out why. Did you set them too high, or was there something you could have done differently to meet them? Once you’ve figured it out, adjust your goals accordingly and move on.
  • Make a list of the positive things you have achieved. You may not have gotten as far as you would like by now, but if you’re moving forward at all, you’re going in the right direction.

Laugh in the Face of Adversity

When things get in the way of reaching our goals, it can be tempting to give up. But that’s when we need to reach for our ambition the most. If we want to badly enough, we can overcome obstacles or find another way to achieve what we want to achieve.

Once we’ve overcome an obstacle, we can look back on the experience for motivation. Once you’re made it through one thing that seemed insurmountable, you’ll have more confidence to take on the next challenge.

When getting a business off the ground, you may question whether you have the ambition you need to succeed. Many business owners do. But if we look inside ourselves, we can find our ambition and do amazing things with it.

Make Money Online Tip of the DayTO MAKE MONEY ONLINE – THINK HOBBIES:

Create A Blog About Something You Love To Talk About!

I have a few hobbies that take up a lot of my time and you know, I don’t mind at all. My wife may mind a bit but she knows I am happy and that she is always welcome to join in. She also knows all to well that I can talk about my hobbies until the cows come home.

As much as I love my hobbies and spend a lot of money on them I didn’t choose a hobby as my first website. I can be so thick sometimes.

Not only did I not pick one of my hobbies I picked something I knew nothing about. I chose Internet Marketing. I told you I was pretty thick at times.

I eventually started to put my efforts into blogging about my hobbies and life got a lot easier and a lot less stressful. It is so much fun sharing experiences with other like minded people that it takes little time to put together posts for my blogs.

A few hobbies I enjoy and spend money on are:

  • Fishing – I live in North America and love to fish, especially fly fishing. Do you think there are a few people spend money on fishing/fly fishing?
  • Fly Tying – I tie artificial flies for myself and a couple of fly fishing buddies but most people buy artificial flies. If I am busy and my buddies need flies, they have to buy.
  • Guitars – In the past seven years since I picked up playing guitar I have played about 2-3 hours every single day. Any one spend money on all things guitar?
  • Billiards – I am totally hooked on 9 Ball, 8 Ball & Snooker. Many an night spend bent over a table. Get your mind out of the gutter.
  • Backyarad Gardening – My wife and I bought our dream home 2 years ago and now we are starting to become backyard gardeners. We spend money pretty much all year long and even more during the spring and summer months.

A slightly different angle that I have started to promote as well are the negative things that effect my life and those around me:

  • heart attacks – My heart attack was brought on long before it should have because I was a smoker who was about 60 pounds over-weight.
  • quit smoking – It only took one heart attack to help me quit smoking.
  • weight loss – I actually lost the weight before my heart attack and I am sure that is why I am alive today.
  • fitness – since having a heart attack that was un-operable I have had to walk. All this could have been avoided if I had done the walking before my heart attack.

There is really no limit to the themes you can talk about, you just need to love what you do or have something of value to share with your readers.

First I would like to apologize to the blogger that took the time to post about offline blog editors that can save time for bloggers. I didn’t bookmark that post, I just jumped over to the links. So if you read this please leave a comment and I will be more than happy to give you credit and a link back.

Life is great but time can be short and the end of a day can arrive before you realize it.

I spend a good part of my day creating posts for my blogs. I love what I do but I don’t love wasting time as time is money. If I am going to waste time I want to be wasting it on my hobbies.

Not much sense making money online if you don’t have the time to enjoy it. That is where BlogDesk is going to help me.

Using BlogDesk to create posts offline gives me back time I can use to help others, learn more and of course play longer. Thanks BlogDesk .

This is kind of how my day goes.

I have an idea for a post. I hop online, log into the blog account I wish to post to. Create the post, publish it, close the account and move on to the next thing on the agenda, which is usually preparing for the next blog post on the next blog. How time consuming.

Maintaining one or two blogs would take up much time in a process like this but when the number grows it gets to a point where it tends to be a bit overwhelming. That’s when the mind stops working as efficiently, cluttering the mind only makes one slower and can cause more mistakes.

Even if I wasn’t blogging for profit I don’t like to waste time and BlogDesk really looks like it is going to do that. I will know over the next week. I pretty much know how long it takes me to make posts on all my blogs so now I will see how long it takes me to do the same thing using BlogDesk.

How Descriptive is Your Home Page Link?

I must say I am blessed to have my own home office overlooking our backyard garden along with a great view of the sunrise. I get up each day at about 5am, take the two minute commute to my office where I spend the first part of my morning sucking back coffee and reading my favorite blog feeds for inspiration.

The first post that caught my attention this morning was from BlogBloke’s Blog. BB’s post about the secret of modifying or debugging your blog template brought to mind my experiences modifying templates.

When I read the part about the importance of making modifications in small increments I started to chuckle and my mind was flooded with memories of going way too far with modifications. Great advice BB.

BB’s post made me think of one thing that I change right away for each blog I have.

What does the link to your home page say?? Most I have seen just say ‘Home’ which doesn’t help in the search engine rankings does it.

Your blog or website is about backyard gardening, so tell me which you think would be better:

‘Home’ or ‘Backyard Gardening Home’

I personally prefer to keyword my links so they are more search engine focused so I would definitely use the second option as a link to my home page.

Changing this link site wide can seem out of your reach but it really isn’t because you only need to make one simple modification for that link to change through every single page of your blog.

Simple Step by Step Tip For Modifying Your WordPress Header Template Home Page Link

  1. When in doubt always backup your blog first. Once that’s done…
  2. Enter the WP-Admin area. http://www.yourblog.com/wp-admin
  3. Click the Presentation menu link.
  4. Next click the Theme Editor Link. This will show you the files you can modify, no need to get stressed.
  5. You are looking for the Header link on the right. Click that link.
  6. Scan through the code window until you see code similar to:

    <li class=”<?php if (is_home()) { ?>home<?php } else { ?>page_item<?php } ?>”><a href=”<?php bloginfo(‘url’); ?>” title=”Home”>Home</a></li>

You don’t need to delete anything and you are only changing the text that appears on your blog. Instead of it just saying Home you can change it. I have mine as ‘Make Money Online Home‘ instead of just ‘Home‘When you are done it would like similar to:

    <li class=”<?php if (is_home()) { ?>home<?php } else { ?>page_item<?php } ?>”><a href=”<?php bloginfo(‘url’); ?>” title=”Home”>Keyword Phrase Home</a></li>

  7. Now you just need to click the Update File button at the bottom of the edit window.

That was pretty straight forward, hope this tips helps.

You Can Easily Upload A YouTube Video?

Perhaps if you have been hiding under a local rock if you haven’t heard about YouTube. But the fact is that YouTube has really taken the world by storm. It is now fairly easy to take a video and share it with the world.

It’s so easy to upload videos to YouTube that my two nieces are doing it almost daily. They are able to share and make videos with their friends, families can keep in touch by recording events and sharing them with their long distance relatives.

You can create a blog to make money online and share or record tutorials, advertisements, or even quick sales messages all with little effort.

I have a good friend that records videos of our guitar jams to share with other friends that have moved out west.

Can you do it?? Well here’s how you do it, so see for yourself.

Step One – Of Course You Need to Have or Make a Video. In order for it to be viewable via YouTube your video has to be taken with a digital device, a bit of digital photography. This means a digital camcorder, a digital camera, or a cell phone. I’ve taken movies of my dog with my cell phone and depending on your cell phone’s camera, they can be very good quality. On the other hand my son took a video of my wife and I but the video quality was so poor it was really unusable.

Step Two. Upload Your Cell Phone Video. If you’re taking a video from your cell phone, here’s how to upload it into YouTube

  1. Log in to YouTube then go to your “Account” page from the top menu.
  2. From “My Account”, under “Account” click the “Mobile Upload Settings” link.
  3. Click the “Create Mobile Profile” button and enter the information required.
  4. Click the “Create Profile” button.
  5. When your profile is set up, you will be given an email address to upload the video taken with your phone. Email your video to that address. After it’s uploaded, you can go to YouTube and edit the information about the video if you want.

Step Three. Upload You Digital Camera Video. If you’re uploading a video from your camcorder or digital camera here’s how to upload it into YouTube:

  1. Any video uploaded into YouTube needs to be less than 10 minutes, smaller than 100MB, and in an acceptable format, .AVI, .MOV, .WMV, and .MPG file formats.
  2. Click “Upload Videos” in the upper-right-hand corner of the YouTube page.
  3. Enter Title, Description, Tags, and Category to make it easy for people to find your video.
  4. Set your video to Public or Private. Private videos would be for sharing with friends and family.
  5. Click the “Upload a Video” button.
  6. In the next window, click the “Browse” button to browse for the video file. Select the file you want to upload.
  7. Click the “Upload Video” button. Note that it can take a up to an hour for your video to upload.

That’s it. You’re done. You now have your very own YouTube video online!
