I like reading things from Jack Humphrey at ‘The Friday Traffic Report‘. Just this morning I was reading his short but powerful ebook, ‘The 2009 Blog Money Guide‘, and the first thing that popped out at me was that Blogging is NOT a hobby. Right on Jack,it’s certainly not a hobby for me but a great opportunity to share my hobbies and that, even though it can be hard work is how I earn my living these days.

Jack has a page of stats about blogging that tells a lot. I just want to share one stat from his list and that is that fact that 22 of the top 100 websites in the entire world are blogs. That should tell you something about how popular blogging is.

Note: I gained access to this ebook through Jack’s emails so I am not exactly sure where to find it so I would just join his mailing list and get it that way. I really don’t want to give away what’s in Jack’s ebook so if you want to get your hands on it you need to go to ‘The Friday Traffic Report‘.

The money making blogs I own get between 74% – 82% organic traffic directly from the search engines which comes from good content. Personally I don’t do any PPC as I really suck at it and any time I have tried it in the past I lost far more than I ever earned so I am really happy with the organic search engine traffic.

I do have a number of blogs that are still in the building content phase. I usually take a few months before I get enough traffic for me to monetize my blogs. Up to 37 blogs at this point but only 10 of them are producing my income.

So don’t be afraid to create a blog of your own, just keep the content coming and make it as unique as you can for the best results. Learning from someone like Jack Humphrey is going to make your journey to blogging success smoother and faster.

I was first introduced to Wordpress after taking the Bloggers Paycheck course by John Yeo who showed me that Wordpress is by far the best blog platform that you will use if you are looking to make money blogging or start an internet business.

While it is true there are many other blogging tools, if you really want to establish yourself online and make money. Wordpress is the platform of choice.

There are a number of options here, but Wordpress should be udner ‘blogs’ in the second header.Very simply, click Wordpress and ‘New Installation’.  Complete all the details, enusre that you remember your admin name and password, you will need to to log into worpress admin area to post to your blog etc.

Your blog is now up and running! I recommend that you do the following.

Now log into the administration area www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin and delete the “Hello World” post and any other posts or comments that are there by default. You simply go to Manage and then posts and delete.

Go to Manage’ and then ‘Pages’ and click on ‘About’.  Change the about information to your own.

Now go to the wordpress site.org and click on the menu item ‘extend’ and then ‘themes’.  Select from one of the many free themes that you like download extract.

Open Filezilla, put in your FTP details and upload your new theme.  Note that the file path is. Public_html ->wp-content -> themes.

There, you are done and can start to blog away and start to generate traffic.Wordpress is more then just blogging and posting.  There are a lot of plug-ins that really enhance your site and can add a lot to user experience, everything from social bookmarking tools, automatically insert adsense to postings and many more.
