I like reading things from Jack Humphrey at ‘The Friday Traffic Report‘. Just this morning I was reading his short but powerful ebook, ‘The 2009 Blog Money Guide‘, and the first thing that popped out at me was that Blogging is NOT a hobby. Right on Jack,it’s certainly not a hobby for me but a great opportunity to share my hobbies and that, even though it can be hard work is how I earn my living these days.

Jack has a page of stats about blogging that tells a lot. I just want to share one stat from his list and that is that fact that 22 of the top 100 websites in the entire world are blogs. That should tell you something about how popular blogging is.

Note: I gained access to this ebook through Jack’s emails so I am not exactly sure where to find it so I would just join his mailing list and get it that way. I really don’t want to give away what’s in Jack’s ebook so if you want to get your hands on it you need to go to ‘The Friday Traffic Report‘.

The money making blogs I own get between 74% – 82% organic traffic directly from the search engines which comes from good content. Personally I don’t do any PPC as I really suck at it and any time I have tried it in the past I lost far more than I ever earned so I am really happy with the organic search engine traffic.

I do have a number of blogs that are still in the building content phase. I usually take a few months before I get enough traffic for me to monetize my blogs. Up to 37 blogs at this point but only 10 of them are producing my income.

So don’t be afraid to create a blog of your own, just keep the content coming and make it as unique as you can for the best results. Learning from someone like Jack Humphrey is going to make your journey to blogging success smoother and faster.

However, they actually only have one keyword term that has a number one position in Google. And that keyword may not receive actually add any real benefit to their website at all. Included in this promise is offering to help their website rank well for search terms that include the name of their City and State. The price for this service can be anywhere from $60.00 a month to thousands of dollars a month.

If your site ranks well due to 20 keyword search terms, you need to know the value of those keyword search terms. What a business owner needs to understand is that obtaining a high page position for any keyword search term is only beneficial if it is a keyword term or phrase that their clients are using to find their type of business.

How many people in San Francisco use the keyword search term, “Sam’s pest control, San Francisco, CA”? Most likely only people who already know about Sam’s pest control.

On the other hand obtaining the number one position for the search term, “San Francisco Pest Control,” a keyword search term that people do type into Google could be worth the time, money and effort to achieve it.
