annoying-emailsI find it so annoying to get emails addressed to ‘Dear Domain Name’ asking me to partner with them.

Like I am going to take the time to read let alone respond to someone who couldn’t take the time to look up my username or real name while they were on my site.

How I Would Approach Someone Through Email

  1. The first thing I do when I want to approach someone with, well just about anything, I would first find out their name. Their real name if it’s available.
  2. Then I would be sure to say a few things while introducing myself that would show them I have been to their site and actually read something.
  3. Next I would ask them for permission to send what I want to send to them. I would not send it with an apology if they didn’t like it.

Short Example of an Email I would send:

——————————————————-

Dear Robert Smith

Good day Robert. First I would like you to know I am most impressed with the work you have done on you “name of site” in the last month.

I was on your site again today reading about “specific topic here”, and thought you might be interested in offering an ecourse I created on “same topic here” to your readers.

I know you must be a busy guy so I will keep this short.

I would love to send you a copy of my ecourese to evaluate, no cost to you of course other than the time it takes to evaluate it.

Here is my domain so that you can take a peek at who I am. It should give you a better idea of who you may be working with in the future.

http://www.mydomain.com/

Let me know if you are interested at this time and I will get right back to you.

BTW: Keep the great content coming.

Sincerly James Mann
Owner: ebooks-with-reseller-rights.com

——————————————————-

The example email above has a few things that make it real and worth reading.

  • The site owner’s real name.
  • I mention something about his site. He has made changes over the last month. Proof that I have at the least visited his site previously.
  • I specify what we have in common that made me email them.
  • It’s short and to the point.
  • I didn’t go into detail about what I was offering.
  • I made it quick and to the point so as not to take up too much of their time, just enough to peek their interest.
  • I left them with my domain so they could check up on me if they wish. Hiding nothing.

I don’t know about you but I would have read this email without considering it spam at all.

Putting A Little More Into My Blogging Now

James-MannBy putting a little more into my blogs I am referring to putting in a little personality, my personality into my blogging. I get a little shy about that in most of my blogs other than the blogs where I share my hobbies. I get ME right into them without hesitation.

So from this point on, when I blog or create a blog I will focus more on just being myself.

I have thought about being a little more personal in my business blogs but every time I go and put some personality into it I just don’t think it fits and delete it. Must be low self-esteem. I must work on that one.

I guess what convinced me was the hundreds of posts about putting your personality into blogging. Some times it takes a lot to get through my preceptions of online business.

The thing is I just read them and thought I should but ended up ignoring the great advice, until this morning.

What’s funny is I wasn’t even suppose to be home to day. I wanted to go fishing but my fishing buddies were all busy today and I worked in the garden all week so I don’t feel like gardening plus it’s already too hot and muggy for that.

So, instead of just sitting around watching the TV I thought I would check out bloglines and see what my blogging friends are talking about today.

Glad I didn’t go out today, other than for breakfast with my wife. That’s a nice way to start a Saturday if I am not off fishing at 5am.

One blogger, new to my list is Deneil Merritt. Check out his post on putting some of my personality into blogging.

Does MySpace ring a bell? Just think about Facebook now?

Facebook has over 150,000,000 members. That’s not a typo. We’re talking about a membership that’s half the size of the United States population. And it’s happening on a global scale.

To Internet marketers, that means one VERY big thing… a market so huge it’s almost laughable. In fact, this is the biggest marketing opportunity to come along since the web began. But you can’t take Facebook on alone. It took them months to get their first site up, and years to get it to where it is today. You don’t have that kind of time. This all feels so far away..why is this? Because social networking is a trend.

The ones leading the trend get to surf it all the way into the beach of major profits. The laggards just get to watch the fun (and money) everybody else is having (and getting). The question is: can YOU hop on board the trend? You could try to get on board the system and make your own money through them by marketing to people, but the likelihood of failure is high. Others are ahead of you, and the rules can change in a flash.

The smarter thing to do is to build your own community site… but can you do it? Most people can’t. The reasons are simple: Most people don’t have the technical know-how and savvy foresight to do it themselves. The ones who recognize the potential and ‘get it’ often don’t have the money to pay somebody else to create what they want. Up until now that is…as both of those problems have now been solved!

You see, Andrew X and Steven Lee Jones faced the same challenges once. They were stuck. These guys saw the massive opportunity that social marketing brings, but couldn’t see a clear way to constructing their own social networking cash machines. So they forged their own trail.

They spent months and a ton of money to create their own community site platform. It lets them build phenomenal community sites that attract members like crazy. Best of all, their software is extremely easy to use, and lets them build sites fast. They call it Niche Socializer, and the reviews it is getting are amazing. One tester said: “I’m so impressed I can barely describe it.

Niche Socializer makes this so easy I was shocked. I’m no dummy, but I’m not some kind of technical genius either. Your software had me up and running within (I’m not kidding) three hours. And that’s because I took my time!” But what really counts is the money you can make with Niche Socializer.

The creators of the highly successful Niche Blueprint have developed a number of simple ways to monetize your site. For example: You can charge your members to post their own classified ads (that module’s built-in) You can sell your own products using the eCommerce module. You can use the built-in ad module to rotate ads on your pages without alienating your members. And it doesn’t end there.

You’ll own each site you create with Niche Socializer, so you can do anything you want with each site, including selling them! Dave Anson who tested the Niche Socializer system built a site which grew to $500 each month within only 45 days, that’s $500 on autopilot every month. What happened next was nothing short of amazing, he flipped the site for $6,000 after 54 days.

Andrew and Steven will even show you how to flip sites like that yourself. The software is easy for anyone to use, but it’s also powerful enough to create profit-pulling sites with just a few mouse clicks. And they’ll let you try it for a month to prove that YOU can make it work for you. That’s what you call a no-lose proposition. Here are all the details: Niche Socializer

To achieve our results, I like to think that SEO engineers need to be quite creative to achieve the results needed. We really need to start being more creative with the tools at our disposal, such as linkbait, AMA and blog commenting to start generating some more traffic.

To do linkbait successfully you really need to grab peoples attention -it can be with a joke, or a game -something with some good sticky content your going to want to pass along to your friends. Linkbait’s problem is the oversaturation of tactics. The more people see it, the less of an impact it has, so constantly keeping it fresh it a must.

AMA articles have to be eye catching if we want them to be read. An intruiging title can be the thing that makes people want to look at the article and catches their attention. An blog comment on a post thats insightful or offensive can often get people to reply, and can generate you some traffic.

We’ll need to start getting out of our box if we’re to get our sites that page one spot, as only recently companies have started realising the benefits of SEO, and with morme and more businesses calling for its gonna make things interesting to say the least. This means were seeing alot of sites going for the same slots, SEO companies pitied against one another -and the group that comes up with the unique ideas for that extra traffic will be the one thats going to get the top spot. New and ‘unusual’ ideas will gain some attention, it doesnt matter whether those ideas are good or bad.

Wow! The New WordPress Platform Rocks

Image representing WordPress as depicted in Cr...

If you have thought it would be too complicated to install a WordPress blog, think again.  With the recent upgrades to WordPress, it has never been easier to install a nice looking blog and tweak it to your heart’s desire.

How To Install Your Blog

If you do not have a blog yet, simply go to the control panel at your site – generally www.YourSite.com/cpanel – click the Fantastico icon, and then click the option to install WordPress in a directory of your choice.  Once the blog has been installed, you will want to go into your administrative panel, which is called a dashboard.  The dashboard allows you to update the blog software, add plugins, change the look of your blog and, of course, add content.

Updating The Blog Software

Recent versions of the blogging software have allowed you to update the software with just one click within your dashboard, and to search, review and install plugins that will enhance the power of your WordPress blog.

How To Adjust The Appearance Of Your Blog

In its June 2009 update, WordPress took the plugin capability a step farther by expanding it to include easy theme installation.  The new WordPress Version 2.8 offers an outstanding and super easy to use theme feature that is similar to the plugin feature.  You specify what you want by searching for and viewing themes directly from the dashboard – for instance, a 3 column, blue and white layout.  Select the theme that appeals to you and WordPress will install it from the dashboard.  The days of unzipping and then FTP’ing your theme to your site are over and you’ll save a heck of a lot of time.

When you have installed a theme, you can change it around to how you want it to appear by editing the php pages.  The page editing process is a lot easier with WordPress’ new color-coded theme editor.  When you review PHP and stylesheet pages in the theme editor, the code is now numbered and colored, making the job thousands of times easier.

There are some awesome free themes available, including the magazine style themes that look like a professional publication. If you use these types of themes, you will be working with a plugin called Timthumb that will display your images as thumbnails on the front page and display larger versions within the blog post.  Timthumb and magazine style WordPress themes are pretty easy to work with, but sometimes the help file is not entirely clear because it assumes that you know things that you do not know.  At Not Guru, you can find a step-by-step tutorial, replete with screen shots, which show you how to work with magazine style WordPress themes.

Recent tweaks boost your blog’s speed and that’s always nice. I have been on too many blogs that cause me to think they aren’t going to load, but they are just slow.

Not only does the new WordPress software make your life easier in adjusting the appearance of your blog, but it runs a lot faster.

More Than One Reason To Blog

Installing a WordPress blog to your site is a great idea because if it is regularly updated, it will turn into a fantastic search engine traffic magnet.  The key is that the blog should be updated consistently.

I like to update most of my blogs about 3 times a week, while other blogs I have I may do as many as 5 a week.

When it is, new posts generally show up in the search engines on the same day and often within hours.  There is a way to make your indexing process even faster, and it will not cost you one single penny.  What you do is install what is called the SEO blog plugin.

WordPress’ plugin installation feature makes installing the blog traffic plugin a snap. In just a few minutes and a couple of mouse clicks, the zip file will be uploaded from your computer hard drive, unpacked, and fully installed.  Once installed, the plugin will tweak your blog, have you install other traffic-pulling plugins, and optimize the search engine capabilities of your blog.  It then gives you an SEO grade (like 77% or 80%).  You will see a positive change in your blog’s performance once the SEO plugin is installed.

Because you will keep your web visitors happy with up-to-date content and the search engines constantly visiting your site, adding a blog is a powerful tool to add to your website.  Installing and maintaining a blog has never been easier, thanks to the new WordPress release.  Blog installation tips, computer help and other practical guides are provided daily at the Not Guru blog.

Borough Market - mind your own business
Image by NMB 2009 via Flickr

Starting your own home-based business to make money online can be a daunting task.  Watch out for these common mistakes and save yourself a lot of stress and worry.

1. Trying To Make Everything Work From A Single Website

If you’re just starting out with your home-based business, don’t try to take on the bigwigs and try to be all things to all people.  Find your niche and stick with it; once you’ve made a success out of it, you can start to expand your repertoire.

2.  You’re Spamming

While it may be a no-brainer to not send spam email, keep in mind that some types of forum posting can also be considered spam.  Most forums have pretty clear rules about what is acceptable; some are stricter than others, but no reputable forum will accept out and out advertisements.  Forum posting and email campaigns can be a great way to reach you audience; just make sure that your sending quality information to a targeted audience. The short-term benefits of spamming aren’t worth the long-term effect of losing your credibility, not to mention the possibility of fines or being shut down.

3.  Ignoring The Effect Of Credibility

When starting your home-based business, you don’t have a large corporation or name behind you.  You have to build your credibility from the ground up, and it’s a lot easier to lose than to gain. Stand behind your product or service, treat your customers with respect and be completely transparent in all your business dealings and you’ll be fine.

4.  Expecting To Get Results By Just Sitting Back

While it is possible to run a home-based business that will make money automatically, it doesn’t start out that way.  All businesses require time and effort to establish. Passive income doesn’t magically work.  Once you’ve put in a lot of hard work, you may be able to generate revenue with a minimal amount of work.  You must still maintain the business, however; ignore any venture completely (no matter how successful) and it will fail.

5.  Forgetting To Research Your Niche Market

Does a market exist for your product?  Are there too many products already in the market? Once you’ve identified them, concentrate your efforts. The more specific a target you can identify, the more effective your marketing efforts will be.

6.  Using Ineffective Marketing

Far too many people rely solely on the promoting every single feature of their products or services. Sure it is important to know what the features are, however what really sells the products are the benefits. Buyers make decisions a lot more on emotions rather than logic. You have to address your potential customers in the form they want it; show them what they will get from it and how it will be beneficial to them and to their lives.

7.  Forgetting The Importance Of Building Relationships

Treating customers right can lead to repeat business and referrals. People want to feel important and valued.  In the faceless and sometimes cold world of online business, this is more important than ever.

8.  Forgetting That Your Home-Based Business Is A Business

Far too common a mistake is that people tend to view a home-based business as one where in even if they fail, their costs are minimal compared to brick and mortar business. Don’t forget your time is also an investment and the cost of time has to have a price. What is the price of your time? How much would you charge others for your time? Think about it, unless you are doing this simply as a hobby then working home-based business is much like working at the conventional job; the only difference is you’re the boss.

9.  You Didn’t Build A Plan

Many businesses, home-based or otherwise, fail because they don’t have a plan. In order to succeed, you must have a plan with definable goals for next week, next month, or next year.  Having a list and goals will help you stay focused and not get distracted by the small problems and obstacles that come up on a daily basis.

10.  You never learn

The internet is an ever changing monster, and along with it the way you do business also changes. In order maintain a sustainable online business, you have to keep your sell up to date on these changes, both in the general business world and in your specific market or niche. Utilize the new innovations and technology such as what is provided by Portal Feeder that come up to further improve the efficiency and productivity of your home-based-business.

These are ten mistakes that you can easily avoid. Keep them in mind and learn from them, use the knowledge you have just gathered and ensure that your business does not make any of these, as the success of your home-based-business and the revenue you make depends on you avoiding them.

How To Make Money Quick From Giveaways

Make Money With Portal Feeder

Want to discover how to make money quick with internet marketing? Sign up for an internet marketing giveaway.

For beginners, a way to make money from giveaways is to join as a free member and download all of the gifts. Just one of these sites will probably hand you virtually all that you need to make money on the web. You can usually download ebooks or software that you can resell, along with the website template to sell them from, and plenty of information on driving traffic to your sales page.

But there is a better way of making money from giveaways. You will do even better if you have something to give away yourself, and use it to build your list.

Rosie Cottis has been contributing to giveaways for several years. Here are her top 8 tips for how to profit from giveaways.

1. Offer a valuable gift – something that people will really be grateful for.

2. Upload your gift and test your own opt in before the launch day. Most contributors will start promoting in the first few hours.

3. Have a paid product that people will see immediately when they have signed up for your gift. You could have this offer on the same page as the download link for the free gift. I find that a relatively low priced upsell works best ($5 to $15).

4. Send them the link to the download/upsell page in an email, even if your autoresponder already sent them there. This means they have another opportunity to buy your paid product.

5. Follow up with further emails in your autoresponder, giving them either useful information or more bonuses.

6. After that, you can start to promote your more expensive products (or affiliate products). Remember that the free gift should attract people who will be interested in your later promotions, so choose your free gift carefully.

7. Keep promoting the internet giveaway. If you don’t have a list, there are plenty of free advertising methods e.g. safelists. Do some promotion every day. This will add to your points so your gift is displayed higher on the list where more people will see it.

8. If you are offered an upgrade for contributors where you can get your gift a higher ranking, I always take it. It pays.

Last but not least, keep watching what is happening. Is your gift getting as many signups as others on the same page? How is your second offer making sales? Are your subscribers unsubscribing right away, and if so, why? There are so many things you can work on to improve your conversion rate.

Internet Marketing Strategies

Wordle Cloud of the Internet Marketing Blog - ...

Relevant studies indicate that without smart Internet marketing strategies, business success rates will be a lot lower. There are specific steps necessary for the online development of a business, and each of them requires the implementation of different Internet marketing strategies. The basics of this would resume to having a great product or service, creating a web site to promote it and coming up with an impeccable strategy to push it further. Each complete step takes one to reaching the fullest potential of the business, but beware the neglect of one stage that could ruin the efficiency of the rest.

Best internet marketing strategies

One of the very convincing Internet marketing strategies comes from people’s preference to create their own product. The good thing is that such an attempt is also possible and doable when you have a bit of talent and some specialized knowledge in a certain field of activity. If you create a product to call your own, this means exclusiveness and no competition at all on the market. In fact, you’d thus be able to give customers exactly what they want or expect. Moreover, if the product appeals to everybody without any local specificity whatsoever, then the customer targeting will be a lot simpler.

Internet marketing strategies com

Before the choice of Internet marketing strategies, web site optimization requires great attention: design and support the site around the product. Search engine optimization will work into the direction of making visitors return to the site, because the keywords are the elements that increase the number of customers and not fancy graphics. Therefore, all the words, sentences and headlines should act in the direction of convincing the potential client to order from the page.

Internet marketing strategies

Some Internet marketing strategies involve the a site design that imitates a face-to-face client approach. You have to identify the needs for solutions, and once you get through this stage you have to move on to explaining why your product or service will be of help. A clear objective description of what the product can do and how it will work to solve problems will increase the sales rate more than ever. Benefits or product advantages: they represent the fundamental notions on which to write web site content. The rest of the Internet marketing strategies will flow from that.

I won't worry my life away

The influence of the internet nowadays is phenomenal. No wonder entrepreneurs are slowly considering internet-based businesses. Mind you, there are a lot of them who are making it big here. We have eBay, Amazon, Facebook, and many others. Aside from this fact, people who want to earn serious money online are growing in numbers, too.

Paid to Click (PTC) sites are just some of the most common money-making sites online. There are a lot of advantages why people prefer to join Paid to Click sites- commonly known as PTC sites. First, knowledge is not a big requirement here. All you have to do is click ads for a few seconds, usually 30. After which, a few cents are credited to your account. Second, the payout is also very low. There are every some sites that do not require any minimum payout. Thus, even if you have cents in your account, you can request instant payment right away.

Sounds interesting? Don’t be too excited; you need to know a few things first.

Most especially in the paid to click industry, there are a lot of fake sites you might accidentally stumble into. They take advantage of those people who are innocent and novice in this industry. These scammers can get money from you, waste your time, or worse, steal your identity.

Therefore, It is important to investigate the legitimacy of the site you are about to venture into before you even commit your precious time and effort. Remember, Paid to Click sites are like mushrooms sprouting everywhere online and most of them are just scams. They can either be legitimate at first but turn out to be scam in the end.

Here are just some helpful tips you can consider:

1. Google It

If it is the first time you encounter that site, it pays when you research. Try typing the site’s name and the word “scam” next to it. See if there are any results that talk about that site being a scam. For some reason, bad gossips spread faster. People who are disappointed in their experience with a particular paid to click site would normally warn everyone.

2. Payment Proof

Check for blogs that post payment proofs from websites they have already earned money from. For bloggers, posting payment proofs drive traffic to their sites, making their recommendations credible and increase their referrals as well.

When researching, you can type the name of the website plus the word “payment proof” next to it.

By the way, it is more reliable to see screen shots of their earnings. There are some people who simply present a table of their earnings. If you can also ask them how long they were able to reach payout that would be best

3. Forums and Discussions

Sites like Mylot, Make Money Kingdom, PostParker are just some of the most common discussion sites where you can get honest and raw information from people who had bad experiences from these paid to click sites. At the same time, these are the venues where you can also get the good and legitimate ones.

Most importantly, if you have finally decided to venture into your chosen paid to click site, make sure to locate their Forum page. Normally, members share best practices and ideas in this section of their website.

4. Support

A good PTC site has on-time support. If you need assistance, they respond to you right away.

5. Judgment

Always practice judgment. If that site is offering you more than $.01 per click, start doubting. Unless that site has hundreds of advertisers, it is hard to sustain a reward that high. Most of the time, it will just end being a scam.
