The key to my success through article marketing is to write articles that are keyworded using my main keywords. I usually focus on at least two keywords or phrases sometimes three.

The goal is to convince the major search engines that my keywords are relevant to my content and especially my one way links. It’s a must to have your backlinks keyworded using a variety of keyword phrase that fit your niche.

Being Found On Search Engines Is Vital

For best results you articles need to be listed on the first couple of search results pages due to people’s surfing habits.

By that I mean people tend to refine their search phrase if they don’t find what they are looking for in the first couple of pages of search results.

This takes both time and effort to research the best keywords for your niche campaigns.

Proper keyword research gives Internet marketers the edge over slackers or lazy marketers who skip the research because they think they know the keywords that will make them money.

Well most that skip the research go for the top keywords in the niche they choose which is usually a death sentence for their business if they don’t eventually conduct proper keyword research.

This is good for you and me because those people won’t be our competition even if they are in the same niche and would most likely take them years to compete for the keywords they have chosen.

You want keywords that get ignored by the big players yet still get money making traffic which can be tough to find without a lot of research, again leaving the lazy marketers in your dust.

Today we have a lot of article directories and networks that you can use to get your keyworded content out there.

If there is only one piece of advice I can give you about article marketing is to be unique. Don’t try using duplicate content to gain page rank for your webpages.

With the number of article spinners today it’s easy to create lots of content from just one article but the problem with that is losing the effectiveness of your article.

It’s easy to allow the article spinner to replace your keyword phrase with something close but different and that can really mess with your ranking.

If you are trying to rank for a keyword phrase but allow the spinner to change it you are no longer ranking for that that phrase. This is a good reason to go through each and every article you plan to use and make sure your keyword phrase is still intact.

During the keyword research phase I am always thinking search engine optimization and seek one main keyword phrase to work for my site and then other keywords for individual pages. Here are two things I do to get my domain name keyworded.

1. Can’t Get The Domain Name You Want? Try Using A Few Hyphens

In the past I looked for domain names that included my main keyword phrase but because it was always in popular niche markets it was tough to find, especially as a dot com.

To get the domain as a dot com domain and still have it optimized in the search engines for my keyword phrase I just added a hyphen between words.

Note: When I resort to using hyphens in my domain name I don’t go over 3 hyphens. I have used more in the past and found my sites didn’t get as much attention from the search engines. I may be wrong but I didn’t take the chance and from that point on I just wouldn’t go over 3 hyphens and have no complaints.

If you find you still can’t get a keyworded domain using hyphens then the next step is to add a prefix or suffix to the keyword or phrase.

2. Include A Suffix or Prefix To Get Your Keyworded Domain Name

You may find you just can’t get that keyworded domain, even if you use hypens so now it’s time to maybe add a word or two in front or at the end of your phrase. You will find it’s better to add those words to the end of your phrase for better search engine optimization but if all else fails you could try using word infront. It’s not as optimized but will work better than not having it keyworded at all.

Let’s say you wanted a keyworded domain such as, make money online. I know it’s way over used but it’s just an example. Well homegardeningtips dot com is already taken so I would add a word or two at the end, something like, homegardeningtipstogrow dot com.

For best search engine optimization results as far as your domain name goes it’s best to use a suffix rather than using a prefix.

I have been purchasing my domains from www.GoDaddy.com. I have many domains that get renewed every year and GoDaddy has never caused me any headaches. It’s why I feel so comfortable recommending them.

Increase Your PageRankWhen I first start to work at home I struggled to get pagerank for my webpages and sites. Those sites and pages I did get pagerank for took me long hard hours to accomplish.

Later, just as I was deciding to drop a number of my websites because it was just too much work I discovered two things.

On-Page Factors To Help Your PageRank

Getting good pagerank begins with proper research before you ever start a site or type a word in that site.

1. Keyworded Domain Names

Your domain name. If you can get a keyworded domain name you already have a slight edge over those that don’t.

Example: I have two garden sites that have pretty much the same content, just spun a little on each. One site’s domain is keyworded while the other isn’t at all.

The keyworded site which I started in 2007 is a year younger than the other which was started in 2006. The keyworded domain recieves about 1500 unique visitors per day while the other gets just over 200 unique visitors per day.

Note: I get many requests for paid links on my keyworded garden site at $120.00 a link but nothing much for the other, non-keyworded domain.

Using Hypens To Get A Keyworded Domain

I try to get keyworded domains without using hyphens and I also like dot com sites so if I can’t get a keyworded dot com domain I will add a couple of hyphens if necessary. I just won’t go over using 3 hyphens, any longer.

2. Keyworded Titles

Once you have a keyworded domain and you are ready to start creating content you need to keep focused on your best keywords. That of course takes research which should have been done long before you bought your domain.

Whenever you are creating content pages think long and hard about how you can use your keyword phrase(s) in your title as this is what appears in the search engine results pages.

Always try to get your main keyword for the page at the beginning of the title. It shows Google it’s important. Put your secondary keyword as well if possible.

3. Keyworded Page Names

So now you have a keyworded domain, you have a keyworded title and then you even keyword your page name. Do you think Google will get the point about what your keyword is?

When you’re blogging your page name is usually your page title so it should have the keyword right at the beginning as well.

Just those three points alone are very powerful but there is one more, well maybe two you can do to make it even better.

4. Keyword Density

Part of Google’s algorithm is keyword density so you can’t your keyword to have between 1% and 5%, even as much as 7% keyword density to show Google you really mean it.

Don’t use your keyword phrases in each sentence as it looks spammy and may exceed your desired keyword density. I much prefer to put my keyword phrase in the first paragraph, somewhere through the middle of my content and then again at the end. Those are the most important places but if you haven’t reached your ideal density you can place your phrase a few more times.

5. Making Your Keywords More Valuable

It’s great that you’ve done all these things but now you can do one more thing that will help even more and that’s to enhance your keywords using headings 1-3 as well as using bold and/or italics.

Just follow their guidelines to the letter and you will get your articles approved.

EzineArticles.com gets a lot of attention from Google as will your article but keep them on topic and choose your keywords wisely as that will get you a whole lot more traffic.

Fnd the top ten RSS feed directories in Google and then submit your EA author feed. You can do this manually but there are ways to do it automatically, just be sure you do it.

Get those top ten done quickly and then add it to even more over time.

There are a ton of ping sites you can use to ping your articles which again helps you get more traffic from your articles.

Social Bookmarking And Your Articles

Don’t pass over the power of social bookmarketing. This is another tactic for more traffic and can be done manually or you can make it automated.

Important Note: Take the time to write quality articles with helpful content and you will do much better with sites like Digg and StumbleUpon. Creating quality content will get you noticed in a good way.

When you are looking at article directories look for those that have a PageRank of at least 4 or 5. Get your article accepted on those before moving on to those with less PR.

Using Article Networks For Backlinks And Traffic

I also use a few article networks to submit articles to. These article networks had dozens if not hundreds of blogs just waiting for more content.
