Webmann Marketing Was Only A Dream For Half A Century

I can hardly believe it but a half century has passed since I first started dreaming of making money doing what I love and at that time it was taking people fishing. Well a lot of water has gone under the bridge since those days of innocence and there came a time I almost forgot that dream, life just got in the way.

Well I am happy to be telling you that dreams do come true, it took almost 50 years but it happened.

The dreams I had as a kid started to happen when I finally started blogging about my hobbies and interests. I haven’t started taking people around the world on fishing trips but I am helping people around the world learn more about my love of fishing and other hobbies and I make money doing it and I work for myself. I am my own boss, that was dream on its own.

I was born in 1953 but it wasn’t until about 1986 that I found an interest in computers and my life changed.

Over the following year I learned enough to impress a local computer store owner and he hired me. I had just gone from pumping gas for Sears to selling computers, that was the beginning. Later I realized I could make a whole lot more teaching people how to use those computers than I ever could selling them.

I now had a new career. Computer Proficiency Training.

It was a golden time for people like me. I never once had to advertise, it was all word of mouth. I did a great job teaching and people just kept calling me, many of the same people over the years as well. But after about 15 or so years I wasn’t getting the same excitement so I moved to the internet and my life changed once again.

In April 2001 I started my first online business as a web designer and quit my day job, not one of the brightest things I have done in my career.

Note: If I were to offer you any advice it would be NOT to quit your day job. Start an online presence part time and wait until you can replace your income and benefits, benefits like insurance for eyes, teeth, home and vehicle.

A second piece of advice, have a skill that people are willing to pay you for before starting online. If you start part time you can learn a skill but if you quit your job you’ll be very limited time wise.

I easily made hundreds of dollars a day and it never seemed to stop. It was great money but I didn’t get to spend it in the places I wanted to because I was working my life away, trading hours for dollars.

It seemed like my childhood dreams of being paid to do what I loved to do wasn’t ever going to happen.

Then along came BLOGGING

I tried a few blogs, free blogs, but didn’t have much luck until I remembered my childhood desire to make money doing what I love and that’s when I tried blogging about my hobbies and interests.

I bought a domain about fishing and started blogging or talking about the things I enjoy about fishing and few of the trips I have taken with fishing buddies. Well before long I had readers, they were finding me through the search engines.

One thing led to another and after about 3 months I started to place advertising on my blog and was making a little money online actually talking about what I loved. I don’t think you can imagine how I felt after all those years of wishing and hoping to finally be able to make money doing something from the heart.

That blog led to the next blog which was again about fishing but more local than my first. Again I gave it a few months before adding advertising. The same thing happened except this blog got the attention of people that lived around me. I have even made a few new fishing buddies.

I was in heaven now.

From the days of digging ditches to teaching computer proficiency to being a web designer to making money online talking about my hobbies. Life is good, isn’t it.

You can do the same thing as long as you have a hobby or interest that people spend money on.

My next blog was about travel. We are baby boomers and love to travel. The only thing is we currently only get to travel when my wife is on vacation but that’s only for the next couple of years and then she is retired.

Well my travel blog pays me in a different way than my fishing blogs. On my travel blog people pay me to have their ads placed on my travel site, month after month.
