So, you’re thinking about getting your feet wet with a little internet marketing. Excellent, most of us need a little extra income to help cope with our sliding economy. I would suggest you start in the IM wading pool and don’t even think about jumping off into the deep end.

Let me tell you what I told my friend Gary R. last week when he started asking about how I make money online.

Gary’s a good friend who just happens to HATE his job. I know this because every so often I get an email and all it says is ‘I HATE MY JOB’. The email usually has it over and over about 100 times.

Now Gary has purchased a house, well he and the bank that is, and they just got a new car but kept the older car so they could both drive to work seperately as they work in different spots with different hours.

Then they bought a new snow blower once we got dumped on from the heavens.

I guess they are starting to feel the pinch due to the poor economy today and are looking to make a little extra to help take up the slack.

My first real question for Gary was right to the point.

Gary, how much are you willing to spend to get started?

His face got a little red and he said “I thought maybe he could get started with no money.” I laughed and said, ‘Okay, have a nice day.’ And then I laughed again and told him I was only kidding.

I knew that he was a little familiar with blogs because he visits a few of my hobby blogs regularly. I told him about blogging and mentioned that I buy my own domains and host them so I don’t do my business for free but that there is:

Oh, you don’t have any money though, well you’re in luck because in today’s online marketing world you don’t have to be a programmer to create a web site and you don’t have to spend a single penny, well other than for your internet connection.

Ah, now you’re getting excited but maybe that skeptical mind is starting to spin.

I am sure you have heard of blogging and you most likely already follow a number of other bloggers. Well it’s blogging that I am referring to when I say you can start an online business without any money.

Note: There are plenty of free content online that will teach you about blogging for profit and a lot of the material is great but not always that easy to find if you don’t know how to look for it.

My suggestion, if you are in a hurry to get started but have little time to learn the ropes, you should check out a few ebooks on blogging and internet marketing.
