Whether you are involved with PPC marketing or SEO you will need a good keyword research tool. In fact, in many cases a good tool can be the difference between a successful campaign and a failure. Traffic Travis is a tool that is used by many internet marketers and has in recent times received a lot of hype – in this Traffic Travis review I’ll fill you in on exactly how well this keyword research tool performs.

Before we being, it should be stated that Traffic Travis is not merely a keyword research tool. Some of its other functions include PPC, SEO, and Page analysis, as well as a host of other features that allow you to check page ranking, look for backlinks, and analyze your competition.

These “extras” aside, today I’m going to review Traffic Travis based on its Keyword Research tool as this is the core tool and the most important.

With your initial keyword research, you will be able to select how many keywords you want Traffic Travis to work with. Though the program has the capacity for up to 2000 keywords at a time, I prefer to work with only 200 or so of the most targeted.

After your search, one of Traffic Travis’ many cool features allows you to divide your keywords into separate groupings, and sort them based on the number of keywords in the phrase. For instance, you could choose to only work with keywords that include only 3 or fewer words in the phrase – an especially helpful feature for focusing in on those longer keyword phrases.

Traffic Travis lets you see daily search counts for each and every keyword found not only for Google but also for Yahoo and MSN. I particularly like this feature because it allows you to discard a heap of keywords immediately. You can see at a glance the keywords which won’t provide enough traffic and the ones which have plenty.

There are two versions of Traffic Travis, a Free Version with limited features and the Professional Version with a heap of features. The free version is good for a start but I’ve found it doesn’t really compare with the power of the professional version.

Traffic Travis is constantly updated with new features and search information, and one of its latest features is the SEO Analysis tool. With this tool, the entry of a keyword sends Traffic Travis off on a quest to analyze all of the data for the top ranked sites associated with that keyword – things like backlinks and other aspects of the sites that help them maintain their top rankings. The best thing about this tool is the power it provides you to scrutinize your competitors and discover areas in which you can prevail against them. For my money, the SEO Analysis tool is absolutely the best feature of the program.

Based on its overall capabilities, I can easily declare traffic Travis to be one of the best tools for keyword research that I have personally used. Don’t just take my word for it – if you want to really reach the top of the online marketing world, try Traffic Travis for yourself.

Traffic Travis is just one example of a tool that can help you earn more money online. Find out more information about top rated internet marketing products and guides (such as The Money Siphon System) today by reading more of our revealing reviews.

Basically Search engine optimization or SEO is broken down into two key areas. 1) On page and 2) Off page optimization. On page optimization involves optimizing the pages of your website for relevant keyphrases, in order to improve their positions in the search engine results pages (SERPs).

Optimization is about keywords and phrases and the more unique your write your title and page content, focusing on just one or maybe two keyword phrases. Don’t use the same keywords for all your pages or the search engines may see you as spamming the search engines.

Add your targeted keyphrases to the navigation links within your website and the use the keywords as your anchor text for links. Don’t make the mistake and think it’s alright to use the phrae ‘click here’. It’s NOT a keyphrase and you won’t get the traffic you expect using useless phrase like that.

If you are offering affordable SEO services then you link should look like: Affordable SEO Services as it will work much better than ‘click here’ will. Once you know what keyphrase you will focus on stay on topic or you will dilute the effect in the search engines.

NOTE: One or two links per article or post is fine, any more may just look spammy and cause your visitors to ignore the page and move on elsewhere. Think about how you feel when you are on other people’s sites where they have too many links.

Give your images relevant names so they become part of your SEO efforts and use the ALT tag to include a brief snippet of text to describe the image. Keep your images keyworded.

Search Engine Optimization is a long and sometimes laborious task but if you get the groundwork right from the start then it’s easy to build on.

The Importance Of Your Backlinks and SEO

back links

Sometimes called off page links, backlinks are the sledgehammer of search engine positioning and traffic generation. To understand backlinks there are three elements you need to consider, the source from which the backlinks come from, the anchor text of the backlinks and the content of the page to which the backlinks sends the visitor to.

The number of backlinks

The amount of backlinks to a page is one of the key properties the search engines take into account when deciding where to position the page in the results displayed to the searcher.

The source of the backlinks

The pages from which backlinks originate pass ‘authority’ and traffic to the page to which the backlinks point. So it follows that pages with backlinks from ‘trusted pages will receive a much higher value consideration from the search engines. Pages from sources such as educational (.edu) or government (.gov) sites naturally carry more trust and authority.

Google Page Rank

Backlinks from web pages with high page rank (a value awarded by Google to each page that it has observed over a period to have attracted, sustained and continued to accumulate relevant backlinks) pass some of their page rank via the backlink to the target page.

The ‘anchor text’

When you see a backlink on a web page it normally has a label a word or text associated with the subject at the page to which this backlink is pointing, what this ‘anchor text’ says has influence upon the value the search engines award to the link. If the content of the page is about ‘parenting’ and the backlink on the page is labeled or given the ‘anchor’ text ‘parenting’ then the search engines consider this to be of more value to the searcher looking for sites related to ‘parenting’ than if the backlink was labeled ‘babycare’.

Common mistakes

Many people screw up their backlinks building activities because they focus on quantity as opposed to quality of backlinks. Having a large volume of backlinks to your page doesn’t necessarily mean the search engines will see your page as relevant.

How to manufacture backlinks

So let me share with you my fail safe method for getting backlinks that will make the search engines love you and bring quality and relevant traffic to your web site.

  1. Choosing the right keywords from the start is critical.
  2. I always set out to put together a keyword cloud.
  3. I always start with a single ‘top’ level keyword or key phrase which has substantial visitor traffic.
  4. The fastest and cheapest method to find out how much traffic a keyword or key phrase is getting is to use the Google keywords discovery tool.
  5. I analyse words and search phrases related to my primary phrase and create my ‘cloud’.
  6. From this cloud I put together a selection of content containing articles, videos and blog posts each with backlinks labeled with the appropriate anchor text and then use a suite of content distribution systems to send my articles and videos to a group of directories.
  7. My guiding principle is to write content that will attract visitors and persuade them to follow the backlinks to my target pages as well as send backlinks.
