Why Create A Blog? Part Two

Before I continue I would like to refer you to a great list. Here are 20 Ways To Increase Your Blog Traffic.
In part one I mentioned that not everyone has the ability to create a profitable blog. The reason for that statement is based on the failure rate of people that attempt to earn money from their hobbies. And in the case of blogging they require a certain understanding of the technologies that make money online.
Some of the technologies that will help you make money online when you create a blog are:
- The software you will use to blog with. (I personally use Wordpress as I found WP to be very search engine friendly, which helps my pages get indexed quickly and as a result I receive more free targeted traffic)
- A little HTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) understanding goes a long way for your readers and for search engine spidering. Knowing how to add a bit of code to your blog will pay off in more ways to monetize your blog
- Both your Reader’s Comments and the comments you leave on other blogs will benefit your blog with more traffic and content.
- Comment Spamming is a huge problem but is manageable if you know what tools to use. Well in Wordpress it’s just a plugin and you are back in control.
- Other people’s words don’t have to come from comments, you can use RSS (Real-Simple-Syndication) for more great niche specific content.
- Pings
- Search Engine Optimization or SEO brings me most of my traffic and all it takes is your time and understanding.
- Page Rank is a big issue with a lot of people, some say it matters others say it doesn’t so much. I personally say it does matter.
There is much more that will benefit your blog and help you make money online but that’s for another day, perhaps part three.
