Time For A Wordpress Blog Plugin That Sets DoFollow on Comments

Today I decided to install a wordpress plugin that changes the nofollow setting on post comments to DoFollow.

I read a lot of other blogs and learn what I can each day. During my travels I have seen a lot of talk about nofollow and dofollow. I didn’t pay too much attention because they didn’t seem to do what they claimed but this morning I came across two posts that pointed out DoFollow plugins that work fine.

I was going to go with a plugin that only activated the DoFollow when a reader had posted a set number of comments. Well I didn’t care for that because sometimes I have something to say about a bloggers post and would love the link love but I may never leave another post so it would always be set to NoFollow.

I didn’t go with that plugin and instead went with Semiologic’s DoFollow. I downloaded it, unzipped it, uploaded the plugin to my wp-content plugin folder, went into my plugin options menu in my wordpress admin area, activated the plugin and that was it. A three minute job and now my readers and comments have the link love they deserve for taking the time to leave a worthy comment.

I have my comments monitored so if the post is spam it will most likely be caught by my Akismet Spam plugin. If that doesn’t catch a spammy comment then I pick it up manually and will set the comment to spam.

I believe that commenting on one’s blog post should be helpful to both the blog owner and the commenter, if the commentor takes the time to help other readers.

If you have taken the time to create a blog and are looking for a plugin that will disable the NoFollow then drop by Semilogic and give it a try.

Getting started with a website design is not a task anymore, since anyone who has been through a few web design tutorials can do it. One does not necessarily need to have a web design degree for this. Plus, Any service offering dedicated hosting will be able to hold it up. For more advanced design, one might need colocation hosting though.
