How to Be a Freelance Writer
My online adventure began with freelance writing. Although that was more than 3 years ago, my freelance writing gigs helped me quit my full time job and launch my Internet marketing business as well. You should try freelance writing as a way to get cash flow.
Although there a really good freelance writing tips available, in this article let me give you and idea of what you can do:
- Ghost write for other people’s books and ebooks
- Write articles for website / blog owners
- Become a regular columnist for offline / online media in various topics
- Become a paid blogger using sponsored blogging like PayPerPost
- Become an editor / proofreader and help improve someone else’s work
- Become a web copywriter and charge for every web copy written
Being an editor requires more of a critical eye and amazing grasp of grammar and writing styles. Not everyone has this specific set of skills. Copywriting is another highly paid skill that requires creative thinking and therefore it not really in the reach of most people. If you can write a proper sentence in English, most other types of writing is good for you.
Ghost writing, paid blogging and content writing are what any ordinary joe should focus on.
Ghost writing can potentially add between a few hundred to a few thousand dollars into your bank account every month, but the flip side to this is that no one will ever know who you are or appreciate the work you’ve done. A big market of ebook publishers are looking for ghost writing services.
Writing for blogs or other online media is a good idea since you usually get credit for your work. If you write for blogs, chances are you get a link back to your own site. This gets you more exposure than you can dream of, especially if the blog gets a lot of traffic. For the sake of your freelance writing career, writing on blogs is actually much better than ghostwriting.
Another way of making money from freelance writing is paid to blog. The basic idea is you set-up your own blogs and start accepting writing offers in networks like Pay Per Post, Review Me or Sponsored Reviews. A lot of advertisers want to generate buzz about their products, and they have money to spend too. How much you can demand per article written depends a lot on the popularity and traffic of your blogs.
The great part of this is that technically you own the content you have written, which means you can always make money using your growing blog with Google Adsense or even affiliate offers.

Nice post!
I agree that Adsense is a great way to monetise your site although I’d probably suggest mixing it up a bit. Once you have great content, you should try paid banners or (as you say) affiliate products or services.
Making money from blogging has got to be the single best thing i’ve done financially in a long LONG time.
Cheers

I do add more once I see my blog traffic grow to more than 100 visitors a day. I still use a few 125×125 and 468×60 banners.
I also use Kontera inline links on a few of my blogs.
I also have an affiliate manager that lets me use keywords throughout posts to use as links to affiliate products.
