Why Create A Blog Instead of a Static Web Site? Part One
Posted September 1, 2007 , By webmann
Why create a blog instead of a static web site? Well my goal is to make money online. I have found that through blogging I get more web site traffic that is targeted because I get more pages indexed by the search engines and that combination helps me make money online. But I didn’t always think like that.
In 2001 I started my online business as a web designer and made a great living. I loved that for about three years and then one evening, just after dinner, my life changed for ever. It was Friday 13th, Feb. 2004 I had my first heart attack that not only ended my career it nearly ended my life.
The damage to my heart was not fixable without a transplant so I was eventually sent home with lots of meds and no energy, but alive. Things had to change…
I had to find a way to make money online without trading hours for dollars as a web designer. I also had to help most of my clients find a new designer as I could no longer maintain their web sites. That nearly did me in there, very stressful time indeed.
Blogging seemed to be the way to go…
… so I gave Blogger.com and free blogs a shot. I didn’t see much happening over the next few months but during that time I read a lot about blogging and was seeing more and more about not having a free blog. That is when I went with Wordpress blogs on my own domains.
To be totally fair to Blogger.com they have improved over the past months but I have already moved on to Wordpress.
Create A Blog To Make Money Online Using Wordpress Because It Works
NOTE: Blogging works but only if you meet the needs of others and are willing to work as well.
I am not writing this post to convince you to start blogging for profit because most people are not going to make anything with blogging. It takes someone that is willing to put in the time and create content that others wants to read. Lazy ass marketers will remain broke until they decide to put forth the effort required to get target traffic in quantities large enough to generate an income.
If you are not committed to time required for success you are mostly wasting your time even trying. It may sound harsh but I have seen too many people fail with 101 reasons why it’s not their fault for failure.
Then there are those that are quite willing to work but just haven’t gotten their game plan straight. Hopefully I can help you learn the steps to blogging for profit so you can create a blog and start to make money online.
I Personally Use Wordpress When I Create A Blog. Why??
1. Wordpress was free.
2. Wordpress installs on my own domains.
3. Using cPanel along with Fantastico I can install Wordpress in less than two minutes.
4. I can be creating great content in less than five minutes.
5. Google loves Wordpress blogs and will index pages quickly.
All this means I can have targeted traffic coming to my blog pages in just a few short days.
I had already dropped a number of sites that had gone down the toilet over the months I was laid out on my back but thought I would keep a few. So, I took three of my static web sites, that were not earning me much at all and converted them to Wordpress blogs.
Within just days I was seeing life on my blogs. Google just loves Wordpress blogs and started sending me very targeted traffic which was converting into cash. I was making money online with blogs. My free blogs were still not getting the traffic though.
It has started, so look for Why Create A Blog Part Two to this post as I get more data.
