A couple of weeks ago I was invited to check out Pinterest. As a work at home marketer I had seen the name ‘Pinterest’ a few times but hadn’t paid much attention to what it was. Because I didn’t want to disappoint my friend I took a few minutes to take a look, just in case he asked what I thought.
The name Pinterest is really ‘Pin Interest’ which is easy to understand as I have a pin board in my home office. At home I pin things to my board that I wish to remember as well as many things I just think are cool and then some things that I want to own, like a new fishing boat or another fly rod, a rototiller for our garden and then there’s that new car we want. Pin boards are great.
Rather than stumble around a site and get frustrated I like to use Youtube to learn more about the site without hunting through a site for answers. I wanted a video that would help me learn quickly, without it being LONG and BORING. I also wanted one I could share with my readers and after a bit of viewing and searching I found this short and to the point What Pinterest is video.
Dragged The Pin It Button To My Toolbar
Pretty much the first thing I learned was about the Pin It button under the About menu. Once I was on the about page I saw that I could just drag the Pin It button to my bookmark toolbar. This was so that when I am on a page with an image I’d like I can just click the Pin It button and all the images on that page appear in rows.
When I choose an image to pin I am able to add it to a board I’ve already created or I can create a board at that time. I can also add a comment and a link to the pin.
I’ve only just started with Pinterest but I’ve already created 11 boards based on interests and have pinned more than 60 pictures to my boards. It’s really easy and it’s fun plus I can do this while I am working my online business. I can also share my images so others can enjoy them as well.
One of the boards I create is about fishing in New Brunswick. Fishing is one of my top hobbies, right up there with home gardening and playing guitar. Below is the fishing board I created and the first and top picture is of a 25” chain pickerel I caught. Needed that picture as it’s the biggest of the day and I want to quickly get it back in the water.
Jenny and I are always looking for new plants we can add to our gardens. I’ve taken a lot of pictures of plants and blossoms I see on my walks. I am creating a new board just for blossoms I like as it will help us decide what to add to our gardens. I have many of them in my Flickr account but still have a lot of them that are on my hard drive.
Not a problem as I can just go to my Flickr account, open the set that has all the blossom pictures I’ve upload and start pinning them to my new board. There is also an option that allows me to upload images directly to my boards.
