Under The Gun For A Blog Post Today And Nothing Comes To Mind??

Carry a notepad and paper to collect your ideasMy motto is to be like a boy scout and be prepared at all times.

Online marketing is a lot of fun but new topics for my blogs don’t always just pop into my mind, how about you? If I were blogging for the sake of talking I wouldn’t have a problem but when blogging for profit you don’t want to give your readers a reason to just leave your site.

Some people just pop idea after idea out of their grey matter but I am not one of those people. I have a friend and client that never seems to be at a loss for great ideas which is great for me because he stirs my mind into coming up with new ideas for my blog posts.

I have been a teacher for the past 20 years or so and in that time I have learned I am not the only one that comes up blank every so ofter but I have a way to have an endless supply of great topics to talk about.

I was reading a post this morning from ‘At The Bottom Looking Up‘ that reminded me of how much I used to try and impress upon my students to carry a notepad and pencil with them everywhere.

Carry A NotePad & Pencil

I carry a notepad and pencil … or my voice recorder with me pretty much everywhere I go. If I am going for a walk I take my notepad because that’s a time that my mind runs free and I see so many things on my walk.

Example: I have a Learning The Joy of Gardening site and when I am walking there is an endless supply of directions to go so I see all the flower and veggie gardens in the area. It is just about time for the leaves to start changing color so I will be carrying my camera with me on my walks over the next month. Great images for my garden site.

I have a blog about Adventure Travel and we have a lot of tourists here from all around the world so it is great to just stop and talk to these adventurous travelers and get ideas for great posts.

How many times have you left one room to get something from another room only to draw a complete blank when you leave the room? Happens to me a lot. Well just imagine how many great ideas move through your mind only to be forgotten as fast as they arrive? That is where a Notepad & Pencil come in really handy.

So start carrying a notepad and pencil on your person every day from now on and your mind will give you plenty to talk about on your own blogs.

I also use this technique to collect ideas for writing ebooks for myself and my clients.

What I do instead of the whole pen and pencil thing is stuff ideas into my drafts box in wordpress. I’m always on a computer anway. :)

    Great idea Patrick, thanks.

I have been doing that as well, lots of great ideas as I read other blogs online and a great way to transfer your ideas from paper to PC.

    thanks for the comment.
