4 Good Reasons To Use WordPress

Many people resist things they don’t understand and that’s how I felt about WordPress for many years.  As I become more familiar with it and saw what it could do for my marketing, I became a convert.

WordPress Is Search Engine Friendly

Search engines love WordPress and there’s a good reason for that. The WordPress developers made sure their software would be search engine friendly.  Because of that, the search engines are able to crawl through posts, pages, and categories to find and index your content.  All you need is good content.

Pinging Your Blog

Pinging is by far one of the best features of a WordPress because it tells a web blog tracking system that your blog has been updated.  These pinging services are like search engine spiders for blogs.Pining is probably one of the quickest ways to tell the world your blog has new content.Find as many pinging services as you can because a well pinged blog can mean many more visitors. The URLs of the pinging services can be entered in the WordPress Settings – Writing – Update Services box.

Switching Themes Is Easy

After having developed many traditional HTML websites of my own, changing the design and layout is a major undertaking, yet one that needs to be done from time to time.Unfortunately, it’s easy to break funtionality in the process.

WordPress makes it very easy to switch themes without affecting the data.  A theme is like a pair of window curtains around your blog. The blog’s content won’t change, only the window dressing changes.  WordPress is especially fun around major holidays when you can switch from summer to fall to Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas, and so on.

Make Your Own WordPress Themes

Developing your own WordPress themes is fun and easy with theme development software like Artisteer. You can also make Joomla, Drupal, Blogger themes and more with Artisteer.Ever wish you could hide the sidebars completely or move them from left to right?  Want a tabbed menu instead of a navigation bar?Or perhaps make several of the same theme, but with different color palettes?  Here are two blogs I made with Artisteer, one about the best WordPress hosting and the other about free workout videos.  It’s also possible to make a blog look very much like a traditional HTML site with the help of a few plugins.

If you haven’t already given WordPress a try, I encourage you to do so.  If you can use word-processing software, you can use WordPress.

A Few Reasons Why I Am Using Wordpress

WordPress

Todays budding blogger has a wide range of blogging platforms to choose from. Wordpress, LiveJournal, Blogspot, Squidoo and many others all seem to boast similar features at face value.

It can therefore be a daunting task to decide which of the available blogging platforms will best meet your blogging needs. However, most professional bloggers name Wordpress as their “blog of choice”.

Wordpress, like the majority of other blogging platforms, is free to use. However, Wordpress has a higher storage allowance then it’s competitors — a whopping 3 gigs! Additionally, unlike most other blogging platforms, Wordpress has the option of allowing you to install it on your own personal website. Should you install Wordpress on your own domain, which isn’t necessary but is recommended, you’ll have complete control over it and you are given all the bandwidth your internet hosting plan allows. That already generous 3 gig limit then become limitless!

While most blogging platforms allow for only the hosting of image files, Wordpress offers another another benefit in that as well as hosting images, you can also host a variety of files including PDFs, Word documents and PowerPoint presentations.

A further benefit of Wordpress over other blogging platforms is it’s open-sourced nature. This gives bloggers a great amount of flexibility. Wordpress has become a favorite among many bloggers for this reason alone. Your blog can be almost completely customized in terms of appearance and functionality, making it possible for you to recreate the exact impression of your blog that you’ve formed in your head.

Lets review the benefits of Wordpress over other blogging platforms. We see that we have the option to house the blog on our own sever. We have the function to host a wide range of file types, and the the limitless flexibility afforded by its open source nature. If you haven’t already started using Wordpress, then now is the time to start!

Computer hacker at the 1. Yahoo! Hack Day 2006...

I can’t believe that two of my blogs were hacked. They weren’t even blogs I make money with, just a couple of blogs that I share thought through. I hope they got a great sense of satisfaction teaching me a lesson.

I guess I was one of those people, even though I have a fair bit of online experience, who just figured they wouldn’t go after a blog that wasn’t important but I guessed wrong. Many others with Internet experience of all levels have worked to make sure that their websites, web service accounts and browsers were as safe as they could be from computer hackers.

The weakness discovered by the hackers is the WordPress Blog. Many may never believe their blog worthy of the attention of a hacker, but with advertising and marketing dollar potential rising, the hacker will likely hunt you as a victim.

The hacker attacks on WordPress Blogs take the person who wants to come to a particular blog to a different site that’s full of ads, many of them obscene and many of them virus filled, which obviously does not present what was the assumed landing point blog in the best light. In fact, one hacker attack, no matter how quickly it’s spotted and dealt with, can destroy all the work that the owner of that blog has done. You may have spent years building your blog’s reputation, and just one vulnerability discovered by a hacker can transform your years of work into a worthless mess.

The attacks launched on WordPress Blogs by hackers get even worse for the blog owners. Google, for example, when (not if) their robots detect something suspicious about a WordPress Blog will include the following in the search result for that WordPress Blog.

“This site may harm your computer.”

If a person clicks on that phrase, which appears as a link within the search result listing, they will be taken to a page that will repeat the warning of harm to their computer and suggest that they go to another site or blog that came up in their search results.

Even if a WordPress Blog owner catches the damage quickly, the time it will take to repair that blog’s reputation will be costly at a variety of levels. People will remember the warnings of computer harm no matter how strongly it’s presented that all with that WordPress Blog is well. A loss of blog traffic will mean a loss of ad revenue. In many cases this could mean the loss of advertisers since many affiliate ad programs require a specific level of traffic activity.

WordPress Blog owners make the mistake of thinking that since the warning signs that their blog has been hacked are so obvious that they’ll be able to catch the problem before it becomes a major disaster. They would have to take action and keep track of their Wordpress Blog every single minute. Only five minutes under the control of a hacker can destroy the connection that a WordPress Blog has made with every single person who visits the site at that point.

While WordPress does the best they can with security updates, that’s still just a reactive option for the WordPress blog owner. One proactive step on your WordPress Blog is all that is needed to prevent a hacker from destroying your work and reputation.

Internet developer and expert James Stein, with 15 years experience in the development of programs that assist and educate people, has created WordPress Secured. Instead of one plug-in fix after another, WordPress Secured brings total security to every WordPress Blog that anyone can learn and benefit from.

WordPress Secured shows you how to plug the security holes that many WordPress blogs have that hackers take advantage of. It teaches how to find a blog’s softspots and strengthen them. Users discover how to protect their important avenues of ad revenue. WordPress Secure will make the blogger secure, smart and will give them an awareness about their blog.

WordPress Secure contains the added feature of BadBot Killer. This script puts a halt to those bad bots that scan a WordPress blog’s vulnerabilities that are open to blog hackers. BadBot Killer stops the hackers even before they can find the front door to a WordPress Blog.

WordPress blog owners don’t realize the time and knowledge that is required to repair a WordPress blog after it has been hacked. WordPress Secure is one easy and educational package that keeps the WordPress Blog owner steps ahead any hacker.
