The use of link bait pages have become a very common tactic by bloggers as a means to increase their traffic. It is a very effective method, however it is not the only method and there a few that can provide immediate traffic results and also consistently increase over time. Using the link baiting technique, you can drive traffic to your site without necessarily making use of reciprocal links or even advertising. Link baiting is all about building an interest in something and driving those seeking information on it to your site instead of you trying to seek out people to come. The 7 best things you can do to generate loads of interest on your sites to drive traffic are:

1.  Writing Fantastic Content

As the saying goes, great content is just that great content. If you can consistently create content that is relevant and timely then you will earn the respect of your peers and in return they will link back to you. If your style of writing is something they find interesting and like, they will keep coming back to see what more you have to say.

Like many great things, it does take time to build a source of great content, but if you continue to strive in bringing quality content to your readers then over time you will consistently build increasing traffic. There are however other ways that you can quickly bring traffic in i.e. a traffic boost, and the these succeeding methods are examples of this.

2.  Providing Breaking News

If you’ve got a scoop, you can drive huge amounts of traffic to your pages.  As link bait, almost nothing works better than the news hook.   If you’ve got exclusive info, and you’ve got it before anyone else, you’ve got a goldmine on your hands.  Having any new information or angle on an already huge news story is also a fantastic way to drive traffic to your site.

3.  Going Against The Norm

Take a subject within your niche, and disagree with the established stance.   It helps if you actually do disagree with it. Pick an argument different to everyone else, and be prepared to defend it. You may have to spend a lot of time replying to comments and defending yourself, but it will most definitely generate a large amount of traffic very quickly.

4.  Going On A Controversial Attack

This one is difficult to do properly.  It’s more adversarial than the contrary hook, and flat out sets to attack an already established view or stance.  Do not use the attack hook to attack a person; attacking a person instead of their views or opinions will backlash upon you.  If you’re out to get any kind of attention, even negative attention, it can work.  I would warn most people away from using this one as link bait for their page unless they were 100% convinced of their stance and could support it credibly, and weren’t concerned with the ramifications a backlash could bring.

5.  Capitalizing On Humor

We all know how fast humor can make its way around the web.  If you’ve got something funny, and hopefully unique, your traffic will increase and people share it with each other.  As link bait, the humor hook is almost too easy; people never seem to tire of them.  Use it to your advantage to increase traffic to your pages.

6.  Dish Out Giveaways

Why do people love Santa? Because he gives stuff away! Having something to giveaway means traffic, people will find you if you have some freebies. What you give away does not necessarily be have something you need to spend money on, you can give away a list of of something or a free open source software that’s hard to find. People will keep coming back to you looking for more freebies that you would give way.

7. Providing A Resource

Why do people use search engines in the first place? The need information, plain and simple, and if you make your link bait into a vast repository of information people are looking for then you will undoubtedly get a stream or traffic pretty much instantly. What resources you use provide on your link bait page can be anything, it can be a list of all the children’s cartoons of the 80’s or a list of the coupon codes, anything really. Just ensure that the resource you are using as link bait is relevant to your niche or to what you are promoting.

The bottom-line is that there are many ways you can make your link bait pages become a center of attention and drive great volumes traffic. The best way is of course a combination all of the above, and learning that can take a long time…but it doesn’t have to, if you have the resources and the training that capitalizes on these methods. Portal Feeder is one such source, and if you are interested to master these methods then it would be worthwhile checking it out.
