Wow! The New WordPress Platform Rocks

If you have thought it would be too complicated to install a WordPress blog, think again. With the recent upgrades to WordPress, it has never been easier to install a nice looking blog and tweak it to your heart’s desire.
How To Install Your Blog
If you do not have a blog yet, simply go to the control panel at your site – generally www.YourSite.com/cpanel – click the Fantastico icon, and then click the option to install WordPress in a directory of your choice. Once the blog has been installed, you will want to go into your administrative panel, which is called a dashboard. The dashboard allows you to update the blog software, add plugins, change the look of your blog and, of course, add content.
Updating The Blog Software
Recent versions of the blogging software have allowed you to update the software with just one click within your dashboard, and to search, review and install plugins that will enhance the power of your WordPress blog.
How To Adjust The Appearance Of Your Blog
In its June 2009 update, WordPress took the plugin capability a step farther by expanding it to include easy theme installation. The new WordPress Version 2.8 offers an outstanding and super easy to use theme feature that is similar to the plugin feature. You specify what you want by searching for and viewing themes directly from the dashboard – for instance, a 3 column, blue and white layout. Select the theme that appeals to you and WordPress will install it from the dashboard. The days of unzipping and then FTP’ing your theme to your site are over and you’ll save a heck of a lot of time.
When you have installed a theme, you can change it around to how you want it to appear by editing the php pages. The page editing process is a lot easier with WordPress’ new color-coded theme editor. When you review PHP and stylesheet pages in the theme editor, the code is now numbered and colored, making the job thousands of times easier.
There are some awesome free themes available, including the magazine style themes that look like a professional publication. If you use these types of themes, you will be working with a plugin called Timthumb that will display your images as thumbnails on the front page and display larger versions within the blog post. Timthumb and magazine style WordPress themes are pretty easy to work with, but sometimes the help file is not entirely clear because it assumes that you know things that you do not know. At Not Guru, you can find a step-by-step tutorial, replete with screen shots, which show you how to work with magazine style WordPress themes.
Recent tweaks boost your blog’s speed and that’s always nice. I have been on too many blogs that cause me to think they aren’t going to load, but they are just slow.
Not only does the new WordPress software make your life easier in adjusting the appearance of your blog, but it runs a lot faster.
More Than One Reason To Blog
Installing a WordPress blog to your site is a great idea because if it is regularly updated, it will turn into a fantastic search engine traffic magnet. The key is that the blog should be updated consistently.
I like to update most of my blogs about 3 times a week, while other blogs I have I may do as many as 5 a week.
When it is, new posts generally show up in the search engines on the same day and often within hours. There is a way to make your indexing process even faster, and it will not cost you one single penny. What you do is install what is called the SEO blog plugin.
WordPress’ plugin installation feature makes installing the blog traffic plugin a snap. In just a few minutes and a couple of mouse clicks, the zip file will be uploaded from your computer hard drive, unpacked, and fully installed. Once installed, the plugin will tweak your blog, have you install other traffic-pulling plugins, and optimize the search engine capabilities of your blog. It then gives you an SEO grade (like 77% or 80%). You will see a positive change in your blog’s performance once the SEO plugin is installed.
Because you will keep your web visitors happy with up-to-date content and the search engines constantly visiting your site, adding a blog is a powerful tool to add to your website. Installing and maintaining a blog has never been easier, thanks to the new WordPress release. Blog installation tips, computer help and other practical guides are provided daily at the Not Guru blog.

Wordpress always seem to get better and better. Most importantly make it easier to blog. I don’t know what I would do without wordpress.
I have to say Wordpress is perfect for what I want. The fact that there are so many plugins just rocks. I get a little, ok, a lot, carried away adding them.
I just recently starting adding the Thesis theme to my top blogs. I am having a blast with all the control. I have a lot to learn on it but once I do I will add it to my other blogs.
And your right, it just keeps getting better and easier.
Me thinks that Jim – Jimmy Mannio, when he starts to “git -tar” jamio – is what really rocks! And, if truth be told, he might just rock a lot harder. Word Press could never “rock” as hard as you could Jimmy!
On hale it up my friend………….
Nice blog BTW…..
